Simplicity in Still Lifes

Despite loving to shoot outdoors, winter often reminds me that shooting indoors can be wonderful too. I have a perfect west facing window that gets great afternoon light. Thanks to Jamie for these beautiful Paper-whites, it is so wonderful to have flowers blooming in the winter. Pears are also a lovely winter fruit. And of course, another year-round hobby of mine, baking. Specifically shown here, lemon-poppy seed muffins. Mmm. I am available for food photography too! As long as you give me a bite! Just Kidding ;) Maybe…

San Antonio

This weekend Frederick had an Air Force Conference in San Antonio and I was up for some warmer weather. I’m so glad that I tagged along! The hotel they put us up at, The Menger, was beautiful, historic, full of old charm – it was built in 1859, and literally right next to the Alamo, right down town. Amazing! I did a lot of solo sightseeing, and not just the river walk. I went to Mission San Jose and Mission Concepcion. San Antonio is a really interesting mix – it definitely felt like a cross between Spain and Mexico. It’s places like this that make me realize that there is so much more of the country I want to explore :)
