Melinda & Vern : The Workshop

This could be a long post but since I’m listening to Fred strum his bass, luckily sans amps, while he patiently waits for me to get this up, get ready, and go out for a bite…I’ll make it a bit quicker than I’d like. I have so much to say about my amazing trip to California for Jasmine Star’s workshop, the amazing 20 attendee’s I met, and just being able to hangout in the waves and savor the fresh breeze in SoCal. But there will be another post about that soon, with head shots of my new peers on Laguna Beach :) Part of the workshop was dedicated to a photo shoot which was absolutely amazing.

My jaw dropped when I saw Melinda’s dress. A stunning Monique Lhuillier. I am in love with it…and am crossing my fingers super hard that I will be able to pull off something similar whenever that day comes. Melinda let me on on the secret that having their wedding day in her parent’s backyard allowed for a larger dress budget ;) She and Vern tied the knot 2 years ago…outdoor backyard wedding in Cali, just threw down a dance floor in the grass, put on some jams, and had some good laughs with family and friends. Sounds perfect to me. Luckily for Melinda (and me!) she saved her gorgeous dress and got to slip herself into it again when Jasmine asked her and Vern to model for our workshop. Girl knows how to work the camera! Vern wasn’t too shabby either!

Thanks to J* for being such a fabulous mentor, JD and Momma Star for being such an awesome behind the scenes help, to Carissa of JL Designs for creating amazing florals, and to Vivian Tran of All Made Up for making Melinda extra beautiful!

I love that you mentioned that the shoot was set-up two years after their marriage....it's amazing though, you'd think it happened yesterday. You did a beautiful job on choosing what to focus on, what to allow to become part of the background. Lovely, Erica. Really.
