Dallas Texas Wedding : Karissa & Steve

Karissa and Steve met in the most romantic of ways, dancing. Swing dancing to be exact. Though they were unable to give me the show that I so badly wanted to photograph (due to Karissa’s long train) I would bet money that they are fabulous at it! Observing them together throughout the day, I picked up on their connection, their chemistry, how they play off one another. Much like you do in Swing. The man leads, the women follows. And Karissa told me Steve is a terrific lead. I see how well he leads her, but she keeps him (and the audience!) on their toes.

While they got ready Steve and Karissa were outwardly calm. But as soon as Karissa floated down the aisle of the church, Steve’s tears began to flow. I don’t think they truly stopped for the entirety of the ceremony because when it came time for Steve to repeat his vows, he was still choked up. It was so beautiful.  Karissa has her own way of expressing herself, through her adorable little face. She made the sweetest, cutest, most adorable faces! I loved watching how she and Steve play off each other, it’s an endearing little game to watch. I am so honored to be the one to capture these little moments on the first day of their life together. Congratulations to you both, I know you will live a long and happy life together, forever worshiping one other just as you so sweetly did on your wedding day.

I love how Karissa’s Mom’s hand snuck into the frame to comfort her and to remind her how beautiful she is…

See, she has the cutest laugh!

First moments as husband and wife!

You two make quite a gorgeous couple!

This is my favorite photo of the day. Completely candid. How sweet is Steve? I love people in love :)

And now for the most adorable cake cutting photos ever. Yes, ever.

And a classic leave, birdseed and bubbles! Congrats again you love birds!

Rhineland Texas Wedding : Sydney & Aaron

As I drove my trusty Honda Civic down Farm to Market Road 276S I began to kick myself for leaving the GPS I just got for Christmas at home. Had I gone too far? Not yet far enough? Field were all I could see for miles as I tried to imagine living so far out in the country. Then a church steeple appeared on the horizon. St.Joseph’s Church in Rhineland Texas is a true hidden gem. The town is dirt roads, homes, and this gorgeous church. It’s own parishioners began construction in 1927, a labor of love.
When Aaron first started pursuing Sydney, she took his pursuit well, less than seriously. He was persistent. She took note that this guy wasn’t going anywhere  and let him into her life. All of their friends and family gathered on the second day of the new year so celebrate the start of their life together.

I arrived at the church while Sydney and Aaron were each getting ready, smiling with excitement but outwardly calm. When Aaron first started pursuing Sydney, she took his pursuit well, less than seriously. He was persistent. She took note that this guy wasn’t going anywhere, and let him into her life. All of their friends and family gathered on the second day of the new year to celebrate the start of their life together. Sydney and Aaron were a photographer’s dream. So easy going, no drama, and made sure that my second shooter and I were taken care of the whole day. The only thing that didn’t cooperate was the freezing temperature! These two braved the cold for a few moments so I could take a few shots outside.

Sydney and Aaron, thank you so much for allowing me to capture this beautiful day and your commitment to each other!

July 23, 2010 - 5:24 pm Gary A. Ortmann - By the way your pics are beautiful.

July 23, 2010 - 5:23 pm Gary A. Ortmann - My Mother was born in Rhineland to a Peter & Catherine Wyrwich in 1912. They were Fetsch's. She had Two brothers & two sisters who all had farms given to them by the government. I am doing a family tree and tring to no avail to find out more about her mother's family believed to be somewhere in the vacinity. I believe the were Catholic and would have gone to the St. Joseph Church. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for listning.garot12@aol.com

Debutante Ball

It was a blustery winter evening when the Carousel, Colony and Cotillion clubs hosted their Debutante Ball at The Wichita Falls Country Club. It was perfectly toasty inside the club, while the decor provided the feeling of a whimsical wintry wonderland. The honorees were abuzz primping and dressing in tuxedos and beautiful gowns. Southern hospitality was abounding. Friends and family eagerly chatted over wine and festive holiday cocktails while waiting for the presentation to begin. The ladies were aglow while presented to society by their fathers and the gentlemen were simply dashing, taking deep bows towards the crowd. The honorees danced first with their parents and then with their date for the evening. After a quick costume change by the ladies into couture cocktail dresses, the real party began. Everyone celebrated these fifteen young men and women’s entrance into society by dancing, chatting, and laughing late into the night.
