30 days!

I haven’t blogged in far too long. I’d love write some witty funny prose but…I. am. drained. Fred and I have been living in a hotel, an Air Force hotel, for 52 days. Can you image? Can you imagine that they let us stay that long? The house hunting process took way longer than we expected buuut we are moving into our house tomorrow morning! Our first house together as almost husband and wife!!! Fred and I picked up the key yesterday and stopped by the house for the first time without our realtor. As Fred unlocked the front door I put down everything I was carrying and swung my arms open in what he knows to be my “pick me up” signal. And I mean physically pick me up, no cheesy bar lines involved. He carried me in and swung me around as I informed him that he would be doing this again when we return after the wedding ;)

Ah yes, the wedding. We’re getting married in 30 days! Crazy!!! I feel so far behind, but I’m heading to New Jersey on Tuesday to give myself (hopefully) plenty of time to tie up all of the many many loose ends. Oh, and plan a honeymoon. We have no idea where we’re going yet. But I assure you it will be warm and lovely. Greece is high on our list, but we’ll see…anything could happen!

Those are my updates. Please preemptively forgive me for my lack of blogging in the coming month. We’ll get back to regularly scheduled blogging in the fall ;)

And for your viewing pleasure, here’s my favorite room in our new house! Can’t wait to start really cooking again!

August 19, 2010 - 9:56 pm Sonya - Erica! I love the picture of your kitchen! We can't wait to see the full house! I hope you're having a great time back home and we are so excited for you and Fred!! I'm sure the wedding will be fabulous - can't wait to see pictures!! We will celebrate when you get back!! Miss you!

We’re moving to Clovis, New Mexico!

Well actually, we’re becoming nomads. I’ve been procrastinating this post for almost 2 weeks, since Fred got his assignment to go to Cannon AFB in Clovis, New Mexico. Really, I’m not the one procrastinating…it’s the Air Force that doesn’t have their stuff together, so we just found out that we’re moving a little sooner than we thought!

Back to the reason of procrastination…we’ve been (un)patiently waiting to find out what comes next for us. So we’ve finally been told some dates and places…and I’m sad to say that Erica M Photography only has a matter of weeks left in Wichita Falls. This is happening a little quicker than I’d like but we have to pack up our house in less than…gulp…19 days. With that said if you want to do a portrait shoot before I leave let me know right now! I will do a limited number before I leave. I also wanted to take this opportunity to refer all my past clients to my friend and peer, Meegan Weaver of Meegan Weaver Photography. This girl is the best and I’m going to miss her so much! I’m so thankful to have gotten to know her this past year…It’s reassuring to know that I’ll see her in August because she’s photographing my wedding!

So like I said, we’re packing up our stuff in less than 3 weeks but we’re not exactly moving…yet. The rest of 2010 is going to be really rough on my photography business because we’re not going to be in one place for more than 2 months. Here’s a list of where I’ll be and when…if you’re in any of these locations and want a portrait session…just let me know!

Now – April 26th: Wichita Falls, TX (with a wedding in Denver CO April 16th – 19th)

April 26th – May 31st: New Jersey (with visits and weddings in Baltimore MD, Washington DC, Portland ME, and Boston MA)

June 1 – August 1: Clovis, New Mexico

August 2 – August 20: New Jersey (with a wedding in Connecticut on August 7th)

August 21: Our Wedding! And hopefully a honeymoon to follow! Cross your fingers for us!

Soon after the wedding we’ll head to Alamogordo, New Mexico for 2 months, and then finally be permanently (if 3 years can be considered permanent) in Clovis, New Mexico.

So, that’s what’s going on with me! I know this year is going to be difficult but I am so thankful to have such a wonderful and portable business, I can take my camera anywhere with me! If there are any photographer’s that have a spouse in the military I would love to hear some of your words of wisdom! To everyone in Wichita Falls that supported me and my business, this is where it began and I’ll never forget it, and more importantly you…thank you!

Photographer’s Kitchen Envy

I love to cook and bake. It is, no joke, a huge part of my life. (Doing the dishes on the other hand is usually Fred’s job.) So, I am always assessing my kitchen “situation.” Our kitchen consist of: dishes given to me by a coworker before I left for collage that were otherwise going to goodwill, my Mom’s hand me down pots and pans (given when she replaced them with new ones), and a random assortment of cheap kitchen tools Fred bought from Walmart when he was living here without me as a bachelor. A few weeks ago I was scooping out some flour to make pancakes and the handle of my plastic measuring cup just snapped off. I shook my head in disappointment at myself for buying cheap things that break! So little by little things are getting replaced…and yes I know it’s tacky to talk about…but I AM excited to make a wedding registry full of beautiful well made kitchen things!

While I was wedding planning on the East Coast, I made sure to take a day trip into NYC and visit the International Center of Photography where I interned the summer of ‘07. Okay, the fact that I had a very old gift card to the museum store may have had something to do with the pit stop. I fully expected to come out with a new book to add to my coffee table collection, but my eyes fell upon a spoon rest. Yes fellow photographers, be jealous!

March 17, 2010 - 3:50 pm madeleine - we need a spoon rest, actually. we've been using saucers and napkins. obviously unacceptable. and by we, i mean me.

March 17, 2010 - 2:00 pm Aisha M Khan - How cute. You're the envy of all the photogs out there.

March 17, 2010 - 1:57 pm Eileen - you would.
